Messenger Bot Setup

Hi,

I’ve setup a bot, all seems fine, but I can’t seem to get any flow working. I’ve tried a a new message trigger and simply used the word ‘hi’ as the trigger, yet nothing is happening? What am I doing wrong?

I can’t see any problems with your screen capture. It’s helpful to see that.

It might be worth reconnecting Messenger, as I can’t see any other way to solve. After that, check your trigger is listening to the new bot, or try ‘all bots’.

Does anything show up in the log (under options button)?

Nothing at all, tried re setting the messenger connection and nothing. Other than setup the bot and the flow, should there be something else I need to do?

The flow is set to private and I haven’t changed any of the settings in messenger

Tried ‘all bots’ as well. I tried recording the whole process for you to see of setup but with all the passwords is pest to hide the details.

You are doing everything right on the setup, as far as I can see.

Have you ever used other bot builder services with the same page? Maybe check there aren’t any old webhooks set up in the FB developers section under the app. Do you see our webhook there?

Hi, its a new page and the first time I have setup developer with FB.

Is your Facebook account verified, i.e. the email address? If not could you verify the email address, delete the bot and recreate, and try that?

Some people have had problems with this.

Hi, Found the problem, using my phone I accessed page manager on my phone and when to Messaging Settings, I enabled Instant Replies. Not sure how you would do this on your desktop. Thanks for your help, very much appreciated.

Ah OK, well I’m glad you figured it out. I’ll look into that and see if we can document it.

Trouble is the Messenger/page setup is so convoluted, there are so many options that can affect how bots work

Hi, well it was working… it all stopped again when I created a new flow. I added a flow question to the my first flow and it asked the question once, but then after that it would ask the question but not show the choices. So I thought I would start again with a new flow, that now won’t communicate. I think I will leave it for a couple of days…

Quick replies (the buttons) are brand new to Messenger and you need to update your Messenger to the latest version to see them (even a version a few weeks out of date doesn’t display them). We are working right now to find a temporary solution to this.

Because you’re ‘inside a question’, you can only answer the question to proceed, or type ‘quit’, ‘exit’ or similar. Or wait 5 mins to timeout before you can use other bot keywords again. I think that was why you got stuck there.

Yes, that does seem to be the case. I’m not able to get beyond one multi choice question. Is there a more detailed guide on writing the flow for this, I don’t want to keep pestering you. Are you burnley based as well?

We are actually based in Padiham, just next to Burnley.
