How do I add a TG bot

#1

I just created a free account and wanted to connect to Tg. If I go to New bot I can only select Slack :frowning:
What am i missing?

Thanks

Sorry, we’re almost ready with Telegram. We’re planning to make it live tomorrow (26th April). Some last minute fixes needed applying.

The Telegram integration is now live, so please give it a try again!

I just tried but can’t connect. Seem it hangs authenticating after I clicked the tg.me link.

Did you click the Start button in Telegram? Seems that catches people out often?

#6

yes, I added the bot already yesterday though. deleted it today then to start all over.

You may need to delete the chat with the bot, and start again. Could you try that? You shouldn’t have any connection/chat with the bot in Telegram when you click connect.

#8

just delete or stop and block?

(John Jackson) #9

Just try deleting. Remove completely and try again.

#10

nope

Did you click on the ‘Send Message’ button?

I did (and here are the 20 chars)

We have seen this similar problem before. We’ll try and reproduce locally. For now, could you sign into the web app (web.telegram.org) and try the link again - that should let you connect to the bot via the web app and will hopefully succeed.

I believe the problem here is that the key that is passed in the start link isn’t reaching the native client that you’re using.

that doesn’t work because the link calls the desktop client :frowning:

Hi Thobu,

You’ll need to close the desktop application and ensure it’s not still running. The authentication does not work if the desktop application is running.

Also, ensure that you are already logged into the web Telegram platform and when you start the authentication, the popup should take you to telegram (which you will already be logged into) and after a few seconds, the Flowbot should be authorised.

#16

that doesn’t work because the handle opens the desktop app. And I don’t want to wipe it.

Hi Thobu,

This may be specific to the environment as it’s not a problem in Windows when the native application is shut down. We’re going to have a look into this to work towards a resolution for this problem.

In the meantime, you could look at using a Custom Bot instead. These don’t require you to use the authentication and they are simple enough to set up.

OK, thanks - I’m on Linux

Tried it with the web version. It doesn’t work either.

Hi Thobu,

Can you clarify what you mean because the custom bot doesn’t require authentication?

Kind Regards
