Capsule CRM v1 API retired - update to v2 NOW!

(Mike Emery) #1

Capsule CRM have released v2 of their API so it’s time to migrate over from v1. You have until Friday 2nd November 2018 or your flow will cease working when Capsule retire v1. Where we have permission to, we have emailed all users with Capsule v1 integrations to highlight the need to migrate.

What’s changed?

v2 of the API includes improvements to help make your existing Flow XO integration simpler and faster. There are a few specific changes you should be aware of:

  • When using ‘Update an Opportunity’ or ‘Add an Opportunity’ you’ll see ‘Duration Basis’ and ‘Duration’ rather than ‘Repeat’ and ‘Repeat Interval’.
  • ‘Actions’ didn’t always provide custom fields using v1 of the API - you’ll find some Tasks now allow you to update custom fields using V2.
  • You may notice some changes to the interaction logs.

More technical information is available here if you want it.

How do I update my Flow XO flows?

It’s easy to do but requires you to update each flow manually. There is no automated migration process for this as it’s effectively a new service.

To migrate a v1 Capsule Task (Actions) in a flow:

  • Rename the v1 Capsule Task so you can always refer back to it.
  • Before the v1 Capsule Task, click + to add a new task.
  • Choose the ‘Capsule v2’ service
  • Select the action you wish to add.
  • Authorize the service.
  • Enter your Capsule credentials if requested and site address.
  • Copy the steps from your original Task including filters.
  • Name the v2 Capsule Task.
  • You may want to add a Filter to the v1 Capsule Task to ensure this doesn’t run.
  • Test the v2 Capsule Task by referring to your interaction logs.
  • Once happy everything is working, delete the v1 Capsule Task.

To migrate a flow using a v1 Capsule Trigger:

  • Copy the flow to create a backup so you can always refer back to it.
  • Delete the current v1 Capsule Trigger.
  • Add a new Trigger choosing the ‘Capsule v2’ service and selecting your Trigger.
  • Authorize the service.
  • Enter your Capsule credentials if requested and site address.
  • If you use outputs later in the flow, re-selected those.
  • Turn on the flow and test that it works as expected.
  • Once happy everything is working, delete the v1 Capsule Trigger.
