Trigger Broadcast from new Google Sheets row

(Anish Duggal) #1

Hello,
Is it possible to trigger a broadcast from a new GS row without using Zapier webhooks?
Thanks

Hi Anish

It certainly is :+1:. Here’s the gist:

Flow 1 - Google Sheets New Row Trigger then a webhook into flow 2.
Flow 2 - Broadcast using a webhook trigger

That should do the trick

Hello Sarah,
So I tried to set this up using the 2 flows you mentioned.

It’s not working for me and after trying since yesterday I’ve learned I have no idea what to do.

The Send Card after Receive Webhook is saying that the response path is empty and there is no data.

The flows and logs are attached:

Flow 1- Trigger on new Google Sheets row and post webhook.

Step 1: Trigger

Step 2: Post Webhook

Flow 2 - Recieve Webhook and Send Card

Step 3: Trigger Recieve Webhook

Step 4: Send Card

I read somewhere else in the community that I need to send the response path with the webhook. I’m not well versed with webhooks and couldn’t find any explaination on how to do this.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

You’re not far off with this, but I think you’ve used a standard webhook on the trigger for flow 2 rather than the broadcast service webhook.

So switch flow 2 off, delete the existing trigger, add new trigger, choose broadcast, choose receive a webhook, put the new webhook address in flow 1 and fire off a test, then save.

You’ll then find that you have your Google Sheets content available as well as a response path to select in your send message step in flow 2.

Woot Woot! It worked, thank you so very much.

Now just working on the filters .

Oh great :grinning: we have improved on the old setup with our broadcast feature but there is some more we could do on docs/guidance. Now you get the picture you’ll find it’s really flexible.

For the filters, if you want to filter on attributes, take note of the info box on the filter step on bot triggers, it tells you how to do it. This is another area that we’re planning to improve usability.

Thank you John,

I got it to work and it’s filtering.

On another note, I had sent Steven a message that I wanted to upgrade from my Free account to Standard and yet take advantage of the one month free coupon and 15 minute skype call that you offer in your Youtube Live broadcasts. I’d like to upgrade today so I can turn on all my flows and test my bot.

If this is possible then great, if not or it’s against policy I can wait untill tomorrow morning.

Thanks for all your help today.

Steven’s been away from his desk this afternoon but will definitely be able to arrange this for you tomorrow morning UK time. Hope that’s ok with you. Great to have to as a user :grinning:
